Used to certify certain graduate students as full time for financial aid qualification and for loan payback deferment without requiring registration for a minimum of nine hours (a full-time load at Auburn for graduate students is nine semester hours).
Restricted to doctoral graduate students for a maximum of six semesters. Students enrolled in GRAD8900 may not enroll for any additional didactic work, but must be engaged full time in the completion of dissertation research or writing and must be registered for a minimum of one hour of 8990 Research and Dissertation. Auburn University does not charge a fee for GRAD8900 and there are no meeting times.
- Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be enrolled in a dissertation program.
- Must be engaged full time in the preparation or completion of the dissertation.
- Must be concurrently enrolled in 8990 for a minimum of one credit hour.
- Must NOT be enrolled in didactic course work.
- Must be making significant progress toward the degree.
- Must have successfully completed the General Examination.
- Must have completed the degree residency requirement.
- Must make minimal use of university facilities and resources.
Registration for GRAD8900 is by permission of The Graduate School only. Registration for GRAD8900 requires certification by the department head/chair and the Dean of The Graduate School.
