PROPOSALS THAT FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THESE PROCEDURES WILL NOT BE REVIEWED

OUTLINE FOR COMPETITIVE APPLICATION

1. Describe the current state of knowledge on the project subject, including pertinent references.

2. Describe specific project objectives and methods to be employed in reaching these objectives.

3. Where will the project be executed?  What is the anticipated time schedule to complete this work?

4. Describe results obtained through your previous work on this subject (if any).

5. What are the anticipated contributions or value of the project (scientific, creative, scholarly, and/or practical significance)?

6. Detail the budget required for this work.  List by major expenditure category: expendable supplies (include examples of this category) and travel required to conduct project (number of trips planned, where, when, etc.).  List requested equipment and include estimates for each item.  Do not include anticipated publication costs or travel to present results of research.

7. List previous financial support for this or related work
    a. Research Grant-in-Aid (dates and amounts)
    b. Other support (agency/source, dates, and amounts)

8. List current financial support for this or related work:

9. Has your faculty advisory committee approved this thesis/dissertation research?

10. If your project will involve human subjects, have you submitted the proper forms to the Institutional Review Board (IRB)?

11. If your project will involve the use of animals , have you submitted the proper forms to the IACUC?  Give approved PRN for this activity.

12. If your project will involve the use of recombinant DNA or potential biological hazards, have you submitted the proper forms to the Biosafety Committee?

13. If your project will involve the use of radioactive materials, have you submitted the proper forms to the Radiological Safety Committee?

15. Applicants who have received awards will be eligible, but new applicants will be given priority.


NOTE TO APPLICANTS
Acceptance by the applicant of a Graduate Student Research Award constitutes an agreement on the part of the recipient to comply with all policies and procedures relative to this award, the University's conditions regarding patents and royalties, and any other specifications made by the Graduate Student Fellowship Committee at the time of award.  Expenditures not approved in the original budget or an approved modified budget will become the responsibility of the investigator, the investigator's advisor, or the investigator's's department or college.
