International Admissions

--Complete the application according to the instructions.

Return the completed documents and application fee to this office NO LATER THAN THREE MONTHS BEFORE the beginning of the term in which you wish to enter graduate school.

Help with Surname

In the United States the LAST NAME is also the FAMILY NAME. Be sure that we can correctly identify all of your documents by your LAST (FAMILY) NAME.

Application Fee

A $60.00 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee must accompany your application.

--This fee should be in the form of a traveler's check or money order payable in the United States.

--CHECKS DRAWN ON FOREIGN BANKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

--The fee CANNOT be waived, deferred, or delayed, AND THE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED WITHOUT IT.

English Proficiency

ALL applicants, except those whose official government languages is English, MUST SUBMIT an "OFFICIAL" score on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) directly to us from the Educational Testing Service.

--Applications CANNOT be considered until this test score has been received in the office of the Graduate School.

--There can be NO EXCEPTIONS and there can be NO SUBSTITUTIONS.

--Students MUST SCORE at least 550 on the paper TOEFL (pBT), 213 on the computer TOEFL (cBT), and 79 on the internet TOEFL (iBT) to be considered for admission. On the iBT, students must score a minimum of 16 on the four component parts of the iBT (reading, listening, speaking, writing). Some departments require higher scores, but ALL must meet the minimum requirements.

Other Tests

Information on other required tests is found in the instructions on the back of the Application for Admission.

--GRE or GMAT scores will be evaluated in conjunction with your previous academic record.

We MUST receive "OFFICIAL copies of all test scores directly from the Educational Testing Service.

--All foreign graduate teaching assistants are required to submit a satisfactory score on the Test of Spoken English (TSE) in addition to a 550 TOEFL score. If you plan to apply for a teaching assistantship, you should take the TSE at your earliest opportunity. The TSE normally is given at the same time and place as the TOEFL.

When you complete the "List all Colleges..." section of the Application for Admission, LIST ONLY COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY INFORMATION.

We receive thousands of requests for information each year and the cost of overseas mailing for so many Bulletins is prohibitive. The Graduate Bulletin is currently available for viewing via computer on our world-wide home page at http://www.grad.auburn.edu.

Financial Sponsorship

The ESTIMATED TOTAL COST in the U.S. currency for attending Auburn University for one year, 2008-2009, is $34,395.

The ESTIMATED TOTAL COST in the U.S. currency for attending Auburn University for one year, 2009-2010, is $36,197.

--We regret that the Graduate School has no funds for scholarships or fellowships and cannot guarantee any form of financial aid.

--Address inquiries concerning other forms of financial aid to the head of the department in which you wish to major.

--Applicants MUST DEMONSTRATE the availability of adequate financial resources to meet personal and educational obligations. The properly completed "Official Statement of Finances" accompanied by certified evidence of your sponsor's financial capability MUST BE filed with this office before an admission letter and your I-20 Form can be released.

Insurance

All international students are required to subscribe to Plan II of the student insurance plan or to provide evidence of equivalent coverage. Information about student insurance is available at the Office of International Education (http://www.auburn.edu/main/international.html).
