Meeting 2002-2003

Alabama Council of Graduate Deans (ACGD)

 March 4, 2003

Colleagues,

I have attached the registration information for the ACGD’s Spring Retreat at the Island House Hotel, Orange Beach, Alabama. The dates are Wednesday, April 23, until Friday, April 25th. Check in time is 3:00 p.m. Wednesday; check out is 11 a.m. on Friday.  Registration will be $125, the same as last year. I have reserved 30 rooms at $89 a night. You need to make reservations directly with the Island House Hotel. They are located at 26650 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, Alabama. Call 1-800-264-2642, or 1-251-981-6100, Fax 251-981-6543 for reservations. Mention that you are with the Alabama Council of Graduate Deans for the group rate. You can go to www.islandhousehotel.com for information or contact sales@islandhousehotel.com.

I have also reserved a block of rooms at the same rate for Friday and Saturday nights for those who wish to stay over—first come, first served. There will be a hospitality suite for Wednesday and Thursday evenings.  There will be a group meal at Zeke’s restaurant on Thursday evening with the Council picking up to $25 of the cost of each member’s meal.

Directions:  From I-65 take exit 37—route 287 which goes to highway 59. Take 59 through Bay Minette, Loxley, Robertsdale, Summerdale.  Shortly after Summerdale—before Foley—take the Foley Beach Express Way—this will be a left turn at the light—and follow this to the end (Toll of two dollars)—this will bring you to Canal Road—Route 180—take a left. (This will be 180 East) 2.8 miles up 180 East you will come to a stoplight—gas station on right—Doc’s Seafood Shack ahead on the left—take a right on HWY 161.  Follow this for 1.6 miles and you will come to a stoplight (you are at the beach) and must turn left or right—Rite Aid is on the left--and you will turn left on highway 182. (This is Perdido Beach Blvd—you will be turning on 182 East). The Island House Hotel is 0.7 miles on the right—just across from Zeke’s.  Be alert, the Island House is easy to miss. If you pass Zeke’s and Franco’s on the left you have missed the hotel and must turn around. Hope this helps. Contact me if you need additional information.

          Sincerely,

          Joe Wilkins
